JVI Newsletter July 2018
Please see below the July 2018 edition of the JVI newsletter. Our big news of the past quarter is that Austria and the IMF renewed the agreement underpinning the Joint Vienna Institute for another four years. This really shows their commitment to capacity building in the JVI region. European Commissioner Johannes Hahn was here in June to deliver the JVI Annual Lecture, this year on the theme of the EU’s Western Balkans Strategy. His remarks coincided with an IMF workshop for Members of Parliament from the Western Balkans, and thus was very timely. Finally, we were pleased to host a number of interesting public lectures, including on labor market trends in the Western Balkans, the new Silk Road project, second generation fiscal rules, and the IMF’s Spring 2018 World Economic Outlook.

Our goal with these newsletters is to bring together stories and news from JVI in one place on a quarterly basis. Among other things we highlight upcoming deadlines for application to JVI courses. As always, we are very interested in feedback on the content of the newsletter, and on the activities of JVI more broadly. Thanks are due to contributors, and to Adam Gersl and Carina Wurzinger for pulling this newsletter together. Please share your views with us at jvi@jvi.org. We look forward to seeing many of you at the JVI during the year.
