Latest Covid-19 News Regarding JVI Training

April 24, 2020

Dear JVI Partners and Members

In light of the ongoing COVID-19 global health emergency, the Joint Vienna Institute (JVI) has temporarily suspended its face-to-face training operations. We regret to inform you that in-person courses have been cancelled until at least the middle of August. The first week when face-to-face courses could begin again at the JVI is the week of August 17.

At the same time, we are working hard to develop alternate virtual (online) courses, and we hope these will be of interest to you and your colleagues. For instance, we are planning a virtual edition of our course with the European Central Bank and the World Bank on managing Non-performing Loans

I am happy to announce that the JVI is launching a series of webinars related to the Covid-19 economic shock. The first of these, on Monday May 18, will focus on banking sector regulatory and supervisory challenges, and will be presented by colleagues from the IMF’s Monetary and Capital Markets Department. We plan upcoming webinars on many of the IMF’s special Covid-19 notes, so pay attention to this website.

We are sorry for any inconvenience caused and seek your kind understanding.

Thomas Richardson, Director

How can I get information about cancelled courses?

We are contacting all confirmed participants of cancelled courses promptly to let them know the status of their courses. We cannot guarantee that a given course can be rescheduled and seek your kind understanding.

Will courses scheduled for the second half of August 2020 or thereafter be affected?

At this point we cannot rule out that future courses may also be cancelled. We will inform applicants promptly of any changes in the course status. Please also check the JVI website for updates.

Thank you, and be safe.

Thomas Richardson, Director
