JVI Newsletter ▪ July 2023

Dear Friends of the JVI,

We hope this finds you well, as the summer season is starting. This newsletter reports on recent events at the JVI. The US Federal Reserve, one of the JVI’s partners, was back in Vienna and delivered a course on Risk-focused Supervision and Risk Assessment. The IMF’s course on Vulnerability Diagnostics was also delivered in the classroom for the first time since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. Another IMF course on Measuring Residential Property Prices, a critical ingredient for financial stability analysis and policies, was presented for the first time at the JVI. Central bankers from the Caucasus, Central Asia, Moldova, and Mongolia gathered in Vienna for the 8th high-level peer-to-peer workshop organized by the IMF, the JVI, and the Swiss National Bank. Another group of peers and the IMF’s Legal Department met in Vienna to exchange views on recent developments in Corporate and Household Insolvency. A webinar discussed the Implications for Macro-Financial Stability of Geopolitics and Financial Fragmentation.

Please make sure to register for the 2023 Annual Lecture, which will take place on July 13! This year’s Lecture will focus on the Macroeconomics of Aging Populations and will feature Professor Börsch-Supan and OeNB Governor Holzmann.

If you have any questions, comments, or feedback of any kind, please write us a note at jvi@jvi.org. Many thanks to Rilind Kabashi, our Editor, Maša Valenko, and all the contributors to this Newsletter.
