JVI Newsletter ▪ July 2026

Dear Friends of the JVI,

Welcome to this edition of the JVI Newsletter. As many of us head into (or are already enjoying) a well-deserved break—we are delighted to share a bumper summer edition, reporting on  special events, the remarkable ways in which our Alumni continue to support the JVI, recent courses, and future course deadlines.

In mid-June, IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva visited the JVI and the OeNB to sign the renewed Memorandum of Understanding between the IMF and the Austrian authorities that underpins the JVI’s continued role as hub for economic learning, policy dialogue, and international cooperation.

Giving Back Through the JVI shines a spotlight on how building a strong community of policymakers—like the ever-growing JVI Alumni network—is essential to ongoing capacity development.

Recent courses covered Fiscal Frameworks; a WTO-JVI regional workshop on Trade and Supply Chain Resilience; and an IMF workshop on Corporate and Household Insolvency.

Forthcoming course deadlines include: Model-Based Monetary Policy Analysis and Forecasting; VITARA: Strengthening Tax Administration; Interaction of Monetary and Financial Stability Policie; Analysing Macrofinancial Linkages and Interacting with International Institutions, and many more available in our course schedule.

We hope you enjoy this edition, wish all of our readers a restful and enjoyable summer, and look forward to reconnecting in the autumn.

As always, we welcome your questions, comments, or feedback, so please reach out to us at jvi@jvi.org or follow us on LinkedIn. Many thanks to Rilind Kabashi, our Editor, Maša Valenko, Assistant Editor, and all the contributors to this edition.

Ben Kelmanson
Director, Joint Vienna Institute
