JVI Newsletter ▪ September 2022

Dear Friends of the JVI,

We hope you had time for a summer break and could recharge your batteries. This summer has been very busy at the JVI, with the gradual return to classroom delivery. Reports on courses recently delivered in person, for instance on Banking Supervision within the Basel FrameworkStructural Reforms, the Debt Management Performance Assessment tool, or Public Sector Debt Statistics, all show that participants and lecturers have enjoyed being back together in the classroom and in Vienna. Virtual delivery has continued for some of the courses, such as the brand new one on Central Bank Digital Currencies. Our first outreach visit since the start of the pandemic took us to neighboring Slovakia, where we got feedback from the authorities on JVI training and discussed collaboration opportunities with the National Bank of Slovakia. This summer has also brought staff changes: Elena Duvalkina shared her thoughts before leaving, and Otabek Kasimov took over from her as program officer.

As you might expect, we have had a few Covid-19 cases in our in-person events, but they have been manageable, thanks to our Covid-19 protocol. Considering the remaining uncertainty on the evolution of the pandemic and given that we want to continue delivering mostly in the classroom, we intend to keep Covid-19 health requirements in the near future.

If you have any questions, comments, or feedback of any kind, please write us a note at jvi@jvi.org. Many thanks to Rilind Kabashi, our Editor, Maša Valenko, and all the contributors to this Newsletter.
