JVI Newsletter ▪ September 2025

Friends of the JVI,

I am delighted to share with you my first Newsletter as Director of the JVI.

Since we last wrote to you in July, the summer holidays have come and gone, and while most students were “busy” enjoying a summer break, policy makers and officials from across the JVI region continued to travel to Vienna to study with—and learn from—each other here at the JVI. Indeed, during that time we offered more than a dozen courses, ranging from Central Bank Digital Currencies and Quarterly National Accounts to Financial Markets and Instruments and Quantitative Models for the Integrated Policy Framework.

This summer was also a time of change for the team here at the JVI, on the one hand saying a fond farewell to the former management team (Hervé Joly and Patrick Imam), and on the other hand, welcoming new staff. We are grateful for the lasting contributions that Hervé and Patrick made to the JVI, which have been conveyed to us all by the multiple letters of thanks I received since their departure.

Thomas Harjes and I look forward to building on their work and to taking the JVI from strength to strength, along with the rest of the JVI team and our partners throughout the region and beyond.

If you have any questions, comments, or feedback, please contact us at jvi@jvi.org. Many thanks to Rilind Kabashi, our Editor, as well as Maša Valenko, Assistant Editor, and all the contributors to this edition of the Newsletter.

P.S. One final piece of news is that we are currently advertising two economist positions. If you would be interested to join the JVI family here in Vienna, or know anyone who might, please check them out here and here.
