New Staff Member: Narek Karapetyan

Narek Karapetyan joined JVI as a Fiscal Economist in August 2026. He previously served as Head of the Fiscal and Monetary Policy Coordination Division at the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Armenia and as a Senior Lecturer at the Armenian State University of Economics. Overseeing fiscal forecasting, debt sustainability analysis, and fiscal framework design, he worked to introduce macroeconomic modeling systems into the Ministry. In addition to his extensive experience in leading and conducting economic research and macroeconomic policy projects, Narek was a Research Intern at the IMF in 2021 and has held consulting roles for the Asian Development Bank and the World Food Programme. Narek was a 2025 Tavitian Scholar at the Fletcher School of Tufts University and holds a Ph.D. in Economics. A native speaker of Armenian, Narek is fluent in English and Russian.
