JVI Newsletter ▪ December 2025

Friends of the JVI,

Season’s Greetings! Let me begin by wishing you all the best for the holidays, and a happy, healthy and prosperous new year.

At this time, it’s natural to look back on the year that has passed—one of great change and innovation here at the JVI—and also to think about new year’s resolutions for 2026. In this spirit, why not seize the moment, and explore the great training opportunities available in the JVI 2026 Course Schedule, especially for courses where deadline applications are approaching fast.

One real opportunity not to be missed is the Applied Economic Policy Course—our flagship course—which covers the most critical aspects of macroeconomic policy analysis and decision-making, financial sector and structural issues, as well as interpersonal and presentation skills.

In this newsletter I am happy to report on the JVI’s 2025 Annual Lecture given by Governor Kocher of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank, as well as on recent workshops, courses, and clinics covering: Beneficial Ownership, Big Data, State Owned Enterprises and Fiscal Risks, and Artificial Intelligence in Revenue Mobilization. With 2025 being a year of changes, we again have departing and new staff.

As always if you have any questions, comments, or feedback, please contact us at jvi@jvi.org. Many thanks to Rilind Kabashi, our Editor, as well as Maša Valenko, Assistant Editor, and all the contributors to this edition of the Newsletter.

Let me close by hoping that you all have the chance to spend time with family and friends in the days ahead, and to recharge your batteries before another busy year begins.

I am looking forward to meeting you next year here in Vienna.

Ben Kelmanson
Director, Joint Vienna Institute
