TARGET GROUP | Mid-level to senior public officials from central banks, ministries of finance or economics, financial supervisory authorities and regulators.
DESCRIPTION | Climate change pose economic and financial risks. These risks must be assessed to price assets appropriately. Failure to anticipate these risks could endanger the stability of the financial system. So how can regulators and supervisors ensure that financial managers accurately consider these risks? Investment in a climate-neutral economy, in turn, creates opportunities for the financial sector. How can policymakers incentivise private funding of sustainable and climate-friendly technologies, while preventing greenwashing? This course will cover the identification and assessment of climate and sustainability risks to banks and other financial institutions. Topics will include scenario analysis, climate stress testing, and broader policy instruments. The course will also discuss how monetary policy may address climate change and explore ways of financing the transition to a climate-neutral and sustainable economy.
