Travel from Vienna International Airport (Schwechat) to the JVI Residence

On arrival in Vienna, participants should go to the JVI Residence. At check-in, the receptionist will provide information about registration, facilities and services, the course schedule, etc., and how to get to the JVI building, a short walk from the Residence.

The following ranking is in order of cost.

A. By train (S-Bahn—S7) and underground
There is a train (S-Bahn—S7) connection from the airport to the station Landstrasse/Wien Mitte. The same ticket can be used to continue traveling on the underground line U3/U-Bahn (direction Ottakring) from Landstrasse/Wien Mitte to Zieglergasse. At Zieglergasse take the exit for Webgasse and go up the escalators.

*At the top of the escalators, take the left exit marked Webgasse (leading onto Mariahilfer Strasse). On Mariahilfer Strasse walk up the street towards the shop Kleider Bauer, until you reach Webgasse. Turn left and walk down Webgasse until you reach Schmalzhofgasse (2 minutes). Turn left into Schmalzhofgasse and walk to number 12, which is on the left. It is approximately 5-7 minutes’ walk from the underground station Zieglergasse to the JVI Residence.

B. By shuttle bus to Westbahnhof railway station
There is a shuttle bus departing every half hour from around 6am to around 12am from the airport to the railway station Westbahnhof . Please note that the bus might stop en route. Please do not get off but wait until the bus reaches its final destination, Westbahnhof.

You can travel one stop by underground (U-Bahn) on the U3 line from Westbahnhof (direction Simmering) to Zieglergasse. At Zieglergasse take the exit for Webgasse and go up the escalators. Then follow the instructions given in A*.

From Westbahnhof railway station you can take a taxi directly to Schmalzhofgasse 12

C. By CAT (City Airport Train) and underground
There is also an express train connection (CAT) from the airport to the underground station, Landstrasse/Wien Mitte, which takes 16 minutes. Trains depart every 30 minutes from the CAT Terminal at the airport to Landstrasse/Wien Mitte (U3 underground station). Tickets can be bought at one of the ticket vending machines at the airport (one is located in luggage hall in arrivals), or online at www.cityairporttrain.com. A single ticket can also be purchased on the train.

From the CAT Terminal in Landstrasse Wien Mitte walk to the U3 underground station. Underground tickets can be purchased from the ticket machine located in the main hall of Landstrasse Wien Mitte.  From Landstrasse/Wien Mitte take the U3 line (direction Ottakring) to Zieglergasse. At Zieglergasse take the exit for Webgasse and go up the escalators. Then follow the instructions given in A*.

D. By taxi
Information on rates is available from the information desk in the arrivals hall. One of the least expensive options is with C & K Airport-Service. You can book a C & K taxi from your home country at the following e-mail address: callcenter@remove-this.cundk.at (website: www.cundk.at). Please note that e-mails will only be dealt with from Monday-Friday from 06.00-18.00 hrs. However, reservations by telephone: +43 1 22 8 22 or fax: +43 1 22 8 22/8 can be made 24 hours a day.

Travel from Vienna Central Train Station (Wien Hauptbahnhof)

From Vienna Central Train Station you can take a taxi directly to Schmalzhofgasse 12 or you can go by metro. From Suedtirolerplatz take the U1 line (direction Leopoldau), travel 3 stops to Stephansplatz, change to the U3 line (direction Ottakring) and travel 4 stops to Zieglergasse. At Zieglergasse take the exit for Webgasse and go up the escalators.
Then follow the instructions given in A*.
 


Travel from Vienna International Bus Terminal (Busbahnhof Wien)

From Erdberg station take the U3 line (direction Ottakring) and travel to the station Zieglergasse. At Zieglergasse take the exit for Webgasse and go up the escalators.
Then follow the instructions given in A*.


Parking at the JVI

Anyone traveling by car can find commercial parking nearby (approximately €25 per day). Please note that parking expenses will not be reimbursed by the JVI and we therefore recommend that participants do not travel by car.
