The Joint Vienna Institute organized its fourth in-person meeting of training directors on March 12–13, 2026, hosted by the Oesterreichische Nationalbank (OeNB) in Vienna.
The two-day event brought together 37 training directors from central banks and ministries of finance and/or economy, along with partners from the International Monetary Fund, OeNB, Austria’s Federal Ministry of Finance, the World Bank, Banque de France, the Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies, and the European Commission, to exchange views on training priorities and capacity development across the JVI region.
The agenda featured presentations and discussions on a range of topics, including an overview of JVI’s support to the region, training priorities for the coming year and the medium term, improving delivery and operational effectiveness, and increasing the institutional impact of training. Additional sessions addressed human resources in—and for—economic policymaking, as well as the evolving role of JVI training directors. Sessions were led by speakers from the JVI, partner institutions, and the training directors themselves. The program concluded with a guided tour of the OeNB Money Museum.
The meeting fostered active discussions and provided valuable feedback on JVI training, as well as insights into institutional priorities. It also underscored the importance of continued collaboration in strengthening capacity development and supporting effective economic policymaking in the region.
