New Staff Member: Meri Papavangjeli

Meri Papavangjeli joined the JVI as Economist in February 2026. Meri started her career at the Ministry of Finance and Economy as a Fiscal Expert, working on public finance and budgetary policy, and later joined the University of Tirana as a Teaching Assistant. She has also been a Visiting Research Fellow at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Switzerland, and a guest lecturer at regional training centers, including the Centre of Excellence in Finance in Ljubljana, Slovenia. In 2014, she joined the Bank of Albania, where she worked on a range of issues including the monetary transmission mechanism, macro-financial vulnerabilities and policy interaction, and financial stability. Alongside contributions to the Bank of Albania’s financial education initiatives, her recent research focused on climate change, green finance, and sustainable development. Meri holds a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Tirana and is completing her PhD in Economics and Finance at Charles University in Prague.
