New Staff Member: Nurdaulet Abilov

Nurdaulet Abilov joined the JVI as Economist in February 2026. He previously worked three years as an Economist at the IMF’s Caucasus, Central Asia, and Mongolia Regional Capacity Development Center (IMF CCAMTAC). Prior to that he worked for six years at Nazarbayev University in Astana, where he held several roles, including Director of the Economic Modeling Development Center. Previously, he served as a short-term expert for the World Bank, advising on integrating fiscal rules into macroeconomic models, and collaborated with regional central banks on policy analysis using general equilibrium models. Nurdaulet holds a Graduate Diploma in Mathematics from the University of London and a Master’s degree in Economics from the Higher School of Economics in Moscow.
