In April, the US administration announced steep “reciprocal” tariffs on many of its trading partners. Although some of the highest announced tariffs were later retracted, the administration made it clear that countries would need to strike “deals” with the USA to avoid their reintroduction. Governor Martin Kocher will talk about these recent developments in the international trading system, about trade “wars” and tariffs, and what this implies for growth and inflation in Europe.
