DESCRIPTION | Climate change and nature loss, along with a poor response to them, pose economic and financial risks. Failure to anticipate these risks could lead to stranded assets and threaten financial stability. So how can regulators and supervisors ensure that financial institutions accurately assess and manage these risks? Meanwhile, the transition to a climate and nature-friendly economy also presents opportunities. How can policymakers help to mobilise capital of clean technologies while avoiding greenwashing?
This course covers:
• Identifying and assessing climate/sustainability risks for banks and other financial institutions.
• Developing tools such as scenario analysis and climate stress testing.
• Discussing the role of monetary policy in addressing climate change.
• Analyzing financial instruments that foster the transition to a sustainable economy.
